News: The U.S. Navy regulations updates religious headgear in uniforms, allows Sikhs to wear turbans

In 2020, the updated U.S. Navy’s religious accommodations policy cited that Sikh sailors can wear turbans. This was followed by the Air Force’s decision to do the same in early February of the same year. Earlier, religious head coverings such as Muslim hijabs and Jewish kippahs were permitted because they did not interfere with uniform covers.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sikh community in Sydney, Australia organized a food donation program for the elders who were stuck at their homes under self-isolation. They contributed around 4,000 Australian dollars to the initiative with the intent to serve those in need.
