Simran is not alone in his goal. The members of the Sikh running club Surat Fauj are running with him to raise awareness about Sikhism and counter negative stereotypes. He said it is an uphill battle, but he has seen progress.

The Sikh youth group started their journey Canada Day in St. John’s, Nfld. and have continued as far as central Ontario, raising money for children’s hospitals in each of the 10 provinces they jog through, as well as a hospital in Liberia, Africa.

Harnish Kaur is running on Sunday 12 July to raise funds for projects that are being implemented by Khalsa Aid in Panjab.
