Washington National Cathedral has been closed since the earthquake in Washington in August and it opened on Saturday, November 12th. This concert was one of the very first public programs after the opening of this national icon which hosts presidential prayers.
Last month, SALDEF successfully held its first Leadership Development Program (LDP), under its new ground-breaking SikhLEAD youth development initiative. From a large pool of applicants, SALDEF selected 17 highly talented and accomplished young Sikh Americans from around the country for three days of leadership training, self-exploration, and development in Washington, DC.

Mysticism-oriented music, if only it could be marketed as much as "pop", can possibly be the salvation of humanity. Unfortunately, it remains a niche — sidelined in favour of sex and violence.
For the past 20 years Mexico in its devotion always has a Guru Ram Das weekend once a year. This year the timing worked out that we can combine their celebration with the 9th Lord of Miracles Tour in Honor of Guru Ram Das. And a great celebration it was.
A procession, fireworks and showers of rose petals have marked the opening of Manchester’s biggest new Gurdwara. Around 1,500 Sikhs took part in a parade through the streets of Whalley Range and Old Trafford to celebrate the opening of the Sri Guru Gobind Singh Gurdwara on Upper Chorlton Road.
The Focus on Youth segment will take place on Saturday, November 19, 2011 from 10am to 12:30pm. The special segment will feature a live play, an on-stage sing-along, short films, book readings, and art, focused on inciting interest and inspiring the youth, while teaching about Sikh history and values.

It is the presence of the Sacred Sikh Scripture entitled “Sri Guru Granth Sahib” (written in Gurmukhi Script) that gives the Gurdwara its religious status. Although a Gurdwara may be called the residence of the Guru (meaning the residence of God), Sikh faith firmly believes that God is omnipresent.
