Bhupinder Singh’s new book “Living Awake” offers an opportunity to subtly shift your outlook on what constitutes living in a profound way through exercising Bibek Budh (discerning intelligence) in order to free your mind from confines posed by duality.
“Living Awake” invites you to explore consciousness, break barriers of depression, repression, and stress, aligning with irrepressible truth to achieve peace and fulfilment. Whether you are a long-term practitioner of Bibek principles, new to the concepts of Sikhi, or this is your first glimpse into the ideals outlined by Guru Nanak, expect to come away with a fresh perspective.
The book “Living Awake” is sectioned into 5 Parts with 18 Chapters altogether. Each Part is prefaced with theme and an introduction to topics covered in its Chapters.
- Eternal Reality of One, Modern-day Relevance of Nanak, You are Your Peace
- The Inward Journey, Revelation, Recognition, Realization, Supreme Treasures for Sincere Seekers
- Awakening, Alignment, Illuminating Inner Freedom to Transform Experience
- Liberating the Self Beyond Birth and Death to Effortless Presence
- Integration, Inhabiting Reality, The Art of Living, Anchoring the Surt in Shabad
Each Chapter is prefaced with a line from Gurbani presented in Gurmukhi. The Gurbani is followed by a synopsis of the line’s meaning as interpreted by the author. The ability to read Gurmukhi is a boon, (as most often there is no transliteration), but not a requirement to glean the essence. The name of the writer is quoted and Ang of Guru Granth Sahib is given, so the reader does have the opportunity to research the reference if they feel the need to look up translation or transliteration.
Each Chapter introduces discussions of various concepts from Gurbani supporting the author’s interpretation. Each Chapter concludes with a summary of key concepts presented throughout the Chapter. This is very effective in imprinting the ideas the author has imparted.
The overall presentation is such that almost anyone, whether or not they are able to read Gurmukhi, should easily be able to grasp, benefit, and appreciate the author’s perspective. His step-by-step approach enables the reader to apply the principles presented in this practical guide to their own life should they desire to do so.
Purchasing and reading the transformative book, “Living Awake: Guru Nanak’s Science of Inner Freedom” may prove to be the wisest expenditure of both time and money that you make in this life time.
