Two of Orange County’s centers of higher learning were on a “tornado” watch as centenarian marathoner Fauja Singh stormed through the campuses of California State University, Fullerton, Nov. 17 and Chapman University Nov. 18-20 to meet with students and his fellow Sikhs.
Hailed as a "wonder in the making", the Khalsa Heritage complex had been conceived on a scale with global perspective and located amidst rolling hills on a sprawling 100-acre estate inspired by the nearby Himalayan Mountains.
The find was made by British born writer Bobby Singh Bansal who was visiting Ireland to conduct research for his next project when he was shown the maps that had lay undetected in the castle attic for over 100 years.
Following the success of the Arts Council England exhibition “Turbanology: Sikhs Unwrapped” comes a new book highlighting the importance of the Sikh Turban (or Dastaar). The book, on general release now, catalogues the story of the Turban through art and photography.
BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu on Sunday claimed Sikhs were still becoming victims of mistaken identity across the globe and asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to do something for the dignity of the Turban, the headgear worn by members of the community.

The finger painting skills of an eight-year-old Bushey girl will be gracing thousands of greetings cards this Christmas. Profoundly disabled Gurpreet Juttla was a winner in a national Mencap competition and now the cards are being sold through the John Lewis Partnership to raise money for the charity.
Father Amorth, a colourful and often outspoken personality, said: 'Practising yoga brings evil as does reading Harry Potter. They may both seem innocuous but they both deal with magic and that leads to evil.'
The Sikh appearance and presence was effective, in the opinion of the British, in intimidating the Chinese secret Societies and deterring criminal activities. The Sikhs were recruited by the British for police services, traffic duties, the riot squad and the mounted section.
