Bhai Kanhaiya Ji – The Kind Water Bearer

Bhai Kanhaiya Ji gave water to all,
To those in pain who could not call.
Wounded soldiers, tired and weak,
He helped the ones too hurt to speak.

Some had fallen in the fight,
Seen as different in human sight,
Still he helped them one by one,
Sharing love with everyone.

A Sikh then said,
"Guru Ji, please see, He gives water to the enemy!"
Guru Gobind Singh Ji called him near,
"Tell me, why do you serve without fear?"

Bhai Kanhaiya Ji bowed his head low,
With folded hands, he answered slow:

"Guru Ji, I see You everywhere,
In every face, You are there.
When I give water, kind and true,
I feel, dear Guru, I serve only You."

Guru Ji smiled, his face so bright,
"You walk upon the path of light.
To feel others' pain as your own,
And help with love that's truly known.

This is Daya pure and true,
To see the One in every view,
Not friend, not foe, not me, not you,
Just Waheguru in all shining through.

This is Gurmat, flowing through you.
This is Gurmat, flowing through you.
