A quest to recover the forgotten stories of the Chinese city's North Indian policemen. The resolution [passed by the House of Representative, the Cities of Fort Wayne Indiana, Livingston California, Fowler California, Fresno California and Selma California] recognizes the history, culture and contribution of Sikhs and "wishes the Sikh American community a joyous Vaisakhi."
U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron issues a letter wishing Sikhs a happy Vaisakhi. This year marks 160 years since the first Sikhs arrived in Britain. Since that time you have made an incredibly important contribution to our country in to many ways.
A helicopter flew over parade participants and released flower petals onto the streets, as children cheered and held on to orange balloons. Other floats created by individuals, community organizations and youth groups followed, walking through the Selma neighborhoods as police redirected traffic.
Sgt. Bob Nagra volunteers his time to do 'cram a cruiser' events three times a year. "I wanted to do this, not only for the whole community, but also to get involved with my own Sikh community. It’s nice to show how we are great contributors to the overall make up of society," said Sgt. Nagra.
