On 20 April 2014, residents from all over the Bay Area came together to celebrate Vaisakhi at the Sikh Gurdwara Sahib SF (SGSSF). Once every month, the devotees of the Gurdwara organize an event allowing the greater public to attend and raising money for a permanent location for the Gurdwara.

Fatehgarh Sahib was one of the surprises, where AAP's Harinder Singh Khalsa, former Ambassador to Norway, defeated Congress veteran Sadhu Singh by over 54,000 votes.
Lots of time, and I am not the only one, who is unable to enjoy kirtan due to large quantity of sound equipment, at high volumes, projecting in our temples, which in fact is doubled or tripled on a day of celebration or a Gurpurab.
I think change is coming. This was reflected in the Film Festival. Despite the Guru’s teachings, Sikh culture is largely male dominated. I think Sikh women have had enough.
One particularly striking and exciting work is a standing white marble sculpture of Maharajah Ranjit Singh AKA Sher-e-Punjab AKA Napoleon of the East.. We hope it can find its way home into Sikh hands on the 22nd May 2014.
Work to transform a former hospital site into the city's first Sikh free school is expected to begin next month. Free schools are set up by charities, parents or teachers and are outside local authority control, but paid for by the state.

The whole camp experience for me was great. Amrit Vela (waking up in the ambrosial hours) is very important for a Sikh and since we did it every day at camp, it gave me the motivation to work on it every day in my life. (Camp is coming up on May 28th)
