A brand new series from SikhNet inspirations series. This Sikhi Life features Sikh individuals, families or groups that foster and uphold Sikh values and traditions, within themselves, their family/group or their community.
This first series focuses on family but should people be interested in participating in this type of series and representing the Sikh community as part of any group or as an individual they can get in touch with us.
This first episode is focused around the topic of Homeschooling. 10 year old Aveer Singh Ji has homeschooled for the last three years and the family have many insights and interesting takes on the experience. The family start by introducing each other,

Chanbir Kaur Ji, is a Gurbani singer and Artist , her most recently released track is available here on SIkhNet play.
Aveer SIngh is a podcaster in training, a budding gurbani artist, he is the voice of Deh Shiva, a budding actor and also describes as one of his many passions playing dilruba, tabla and speaking punjabi.
The family have through the experience of their remote jobs and homeschooling paved a path, that involves alot of family time, experiences as family and learning more about and loving more their traditions together.
They came from two different sides of the homeschooling debate- Avtar Singh, introducing the topic to the family and Chanbir Kaur explains although it was something she was very hesitant about at first, and knew very little about, she is extremely grateful for now.
She explains about how it gave her the chance to teach Aveer Singh in music, to share her passion with him.
Aveer explains homeschooling from his side, how when he finishes his school early he still has loads of time for his passions which he descibes as cricket, singing, tabla and dilruba, he also practices Punjai every day!
Avtar Singh also lauds the benefits, the advantages of being able to travel ( they just spent 6 months in India) share and give life experiences to Aveer, spend quality time together and have an education tailored to Aveer.
There are lots of different ways to homeschool which is dependent on circumstance, the family give advice to familes perhaps considering this situation and what are the most important things to think on before you make your decision.
The episode concludes with a family conversation about their recent trip to India, and Aveer shares the feeling of being in Harminder Sahib and all the historical gurdwaras they got to visit.
