Gurmat Camp was held in Belgium at Gurdwara Sangat Sahib, Sint Truiden. For many years the Chalda Vaheer Jatha, founded by late Bhai Sahib Rajinder Singh (Dudley, UK), has been doing annual camps in Belgium as well as countries across Europe. With Guru Sahib's kirpaa, this year's camp was very successful and very inspirational.

In Sikh literature, the Gurus identify individuals in two broad categories. The Manmukhs or those whose faces are turned towards the mind and the Gurmukhs, those whose faces are turned toward the Sat Guru or the True Master. These two personality traits are said to govern how individuals live their lives and how joyous, content and balanced they are.

This course was an eye opener and life changer. Many minds got connected to the rich history of Sikh Bhagats and one young Sikh Boy came on the stage and promised that he will stop trimming his beard.

He taught us that the kingdom of God is within ourselves. He seemed to have risen out of his centered consciousness to the divine plane of the self within, focusing all his energies & emotions on God.

It is my ardaas before Satguru for a miracle on the Sikh panth at this time. We are totally disunited. We need a miracle to get united again. Guru Sahib jeeo, kirpa karo.

The camp was attended by 250 children, aged from 6 to 16+. The camp was divided into five zones - spiritual zone, history zone, inspirational zone, open zone and warrior zone.

It was amazing to see the pyaar of the Sangat and how much love they had for Sikhi. The thirst and hunger of some of the campers was very moving.

The twelve months in divine poetry

The Guru lies within each of us. It is the compass needle that always points true north – the touchstone of Truth – the conscience of every individual.

With progression of Simran, we soon attain a state of peace, balance and bliss. The first stage is the audible repetition of the Divine Naam. This is called Jaapa.

Twice a year, the Jakara Movement organizes children’s camps in 12 regions throughout California. During the months of October and November, Jakara Junior camps will be held in commemoration of 1984.

Over 200 students took this exam on 6th September and today was the day to announce the winners.

The Hall echoed with the pledge of 515 attendees: "We will never believe in Caste System and will show the world your vision (They are pledging to Dhan Guru Gobind Singhji). We will all be only... SINGHS AND KAURS!"

Guru Harkrishan Institute of SikhStudies (GHISS) would like to remind you of the 14th Annual Sikh Youth Gurmat Camp in Maryland from August 1 - August 8, 2009. Only the first 100 registrants with completed applications will be accepted.

Almost everyone I spoke to enjoyed the camp and wanted it to continue. We hope the organizers will extend it for a month next time.
