Guruka Singh examines this question, and says that Amrit is not a set of rules and restrictions that you have to follow after taking Amrit, but don't have to follow before you take Amrit. Rather, it's better to understand the Rehet as a blessing for your life at any point. You can choose to do whatever you like, but instead of following Amrit like a rule-book, try to understand the Rehet, why it's there and the consequences of your actions.
