On behalf of the city, Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens has proclaimed the month of April as Sikh Heritage Month. On April 30 the City of Windsor will celebrate the contributions of Sikhs in the community.
By proclaiming the month of April as Sikh Heritage Month, the Province of Ontario recognizes the important contributions that Sikh Canadians have made to Ontario’s social, economic, political and cultural fabric.
WSO President Dr. Amritpal Singh Shergill said, “we would like to congratulate MPP Jagmeet Singh and the Sikh community in Ontario for the successful completion of the first Sikh Heritage Month. Sikhs across Canada can take inspiration from this example and efforts should be made to celebrate and share the history of Sikhs in Canada with our friends in every province.
