MPP Jagmeet Singh initiates the inauguration of Sikh Heritage Month with "Bole So Nihal!"
MPP Todd Smith stated, "I was really pleased to stand... in support of the Sikh Heritage Bill. And actually it was our house leader Jim Wilson who managed to push that through the house so that we could be standing here today and celebrate Sikh Heritage Month EVERY April from now on, in the province of Ontario. So congratulations to Jagmeet for initiating that bill."
Hon. Andrea Morwath at the Sikh Heritage Month inauguration states, "We're very, very proud. We're proud to join with on Ontarians on April first to celebrate the beginning of Sikh Heritage month. I'm really excited about this and I'm proud of the hard work, as I've said, that Jagmeet has put in to this."

MPP Bob Delaney gives a statement, "...Visakhi is also known as 'Khalsa Day'. Everyone can participate in Khalsa Day celebrations by walking alongside the many thousands of members of the Sikh community in the procession route." He continued, "One of the main principles of Sikhism is the value of volunteering, charity work and giving back to the community. One sees the generosity of the Sikh community all over Mississauga from hospital fundraisers to food bank support to blood donor clinics. The Sikh community has been prominent in supporting our local needs in our community and in community initiatives..."
