Another slice of Punjab’s history and heritage is set to go under the hammer in London next month by a British auction house.
A wide selection of Punjab and Sikh related artifacts are set to be auctioned on May 21st May by British Auction House Mullocks.
Specialist Richard West-Wood Brookes said " We are excited about this sale, Duleep Singh remains a very important figure in British and Indian History" The sale will also include several artifacts relating to India and the Punjab ranging from miniature paintings, objects and historical documents.
This March 2012 Mullocks Auction House is offering numerous Sikh and Punjab items for sale.
Mullocks Auction house will be holding another auction relevant to Punjab and Sikhism. The house has for sale numerous important books, letters, drawings and other artefacts related to Sikh and Punjab heritage.
Another Mulllocks auction of Sikh and Punjab artefacts shows the British motivations of manipulating the boy King Maharajah Duleep Singh. According to Sikh historian Gurinder Singh Mann, "some of these rare artefacts shows the plethora of relics which exist in private collections throughout the UK, They are slowly coming to the surface in auctions like that of Mullocks"
Scores of Sikh historic artifacts - including paintings, sketches, miniatures, photographs, books, historical documents, correspondence, chinaware, furniture, maps, sculpture, medallions - will be auctioned at Mullock's,
The sale by Mullock's auctioneers, of Shropshire, (English Midlands), includes an antique reproduction of the British Imperial State Crown - possibly a proof for the Imperial Crown or made as a gift commemorating the coronation. The crown is decorated with the famous Kooh- I-Noor Diamond and carries an estimate of 800 1200 GBP.
