Celebrating the Contributions of the Prominent American Sikhs

History made - 15 US Congressional leaders welcome and applaud Sikhs at the Capitol Hill.


“Sikhs are United States’s exemplary community” so said 15 of the elected officials at the Capitol Hill, the American political nerve center.


A gathering of 250 Sikhs from all over the United States was applauded by 15 congressional leaders from both parties. This event was organized by the Sikh Council On Religion and Education (SCORE) marking the 550th birth-anniversary of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism and to honor 50 prominent Sikhs in USA.

With the grace and blessings of God I am coming up with my second coffee table book "Prominent Sikhs of USA" published by Young Progressive Sikh Forum....

A book, highlighting the contributions of 50 Sikhs, was released and the author of this book, Dr. Prabhleen Singh from Punjabi University, Patiala, presented the book to each of the US Representatives.

Dr. Rajwant Singh, National Sikh Campaign’s Senior Advisor and President of EcoSikh introduced each of the congressional leaders as they came to speak.

Congresswomen Haley Stevens,
Congressman John Garamendi,
Congressman Raja Krishnamoorti,
Congressman Ro Khanna,
Congressman Jayapal,
Congressman Jim Costa,
Congress Peter King,
Congressman Suozzi,
Congressman Jerry McNerney,
Congresswomen Judy Chu
came to speak at the occasion.


One by one they came and took turns to express their solidarity with the Sikh community.

Dr. Rajwant Singh said, “This shows the hardwork of Sikh men and women throughout the United States and how they have impacted the communities around the country. This shows how our elected officials are impressed, how Sikhs are making this country strong and prosperous. These 50 represents the 550,000 Sikhs who are working day and night in America.’


He added, “Prabhleen Singh sitting 3000 miles away had brought us all together and truly weaves the community around the nation.

We thank him for putting together the stories of these inspirational Sikhs who have strengthened the roots of the community in this country.
