In 2019, our global community will commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak. The genius of Guru Nanak's vision was his radical notion that honoring our common humanity is actually the highest spiritual path. Guru Nanak taught people to see the Light of the Creator dwelling equally in every heart, regardless of class, gender or religion.
This Divine inspiration compelled Guru Nanak to walk for 15 years, challenging the social norms of his time. He lived a life of extraordinary dedication and courage, and his Light remains with us through the songs contained in the Siri Guru Granth Sahib.
Today, through the blessing of modern technology, there is no need to walk for years to meet people and share these ideas. On the contrary, the journey of 1000 miles begins with a single click.
Therefore, it is my humble honor to announce the upcoming launch of SikhNet’s Learning Center. Throughout the rest of 2018, the SikhNet Learning Center will present a few different styles of learning journeys.
Our Flagship Course: Deepening Your Personal Relationship with the Guru
This course, developed in partnership with Sikh Dharma International, will last for six weeks and will launch Vaisakhi 2018. It offers a personal and experientially-guided journey to help you understand and cultivate a deeper connection with the Guru. Look out for an email coming this month to pre-register for the course!
You may be relatively new to Sikhism, or you may have been born a Sikh and living the lifestyle actively for a long time. Whatever your level of experience, everyone enrolled in this course has the same desire and reason for enrolling: to deepen their level of connection with the Guru and to develop tools to empower their own life. Learning Bytes
In May, we will begin releasing smaller “Learning Bytes.” These Learning Bytes will feature one or two videos, and one to three articles focused on a very specific topic. And the information can be digested in under an hour. These Learning Bytes are meant to be a healthy alternative to digital “surfing.” If you need to relax at the end of the day, come to the SikhNet Learning Center. Give yourself the gift of nourishing your mind and soul.
Webinars
Last but certainly not least, SikhNet will be experimenting with live webinars this year. These live webinars will feature guest panelists, speaking to critical issues within the Sikh community. After the live event is finished, the webinars will be saved to the SikhNet Learning Center, with supplementary material on the topic, for future viewing and learning.
Throughout the year, as we share these various approaches to online learning, we want to hear from YOU what you like. And what you would like to see more of. Your voice will help guide our development plans for the Learning Center in 2019.
Oh...and one last thing...all of these learning experiences will be provided to the worldwide community absolutely free. Through the incredible generosity of donors who were particularly interested in seeing the Learning Center come to life, these educational materials will be accessible to anyone, anywhere at no charge.
