It was in the Vesakhi of 1508 Guru Nanak Ji, during the course of his first UDASI, arrived at Haridwar, and shared the message of the TRUTH with the people.
The point is that the significance of Vaisakhi did not start with 1699 nor did it end that day. The revolution of Vaisakhi continues apace and undiminished today. We need to move our heads into the 21st century to see it.
Guru Nanak, initiated a monumental project of nation building that took ten generations – a little over 240 years – to complete, before 1699 marked the initiation (birth) of the Khalsa.

U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron issues a letter wishing Sikhs a happy Vaisakhi. This year marks 160 years since the first Sikhs arrived in Britain. Since that time you have made an incredibly important contribution to our country in to many ways.
