SikhRI and Ensaaf are pleased to announce the launch of a jointly produced lesson plan aimed at educating 6th to 8th grade Sikhs on an important chapter in Sikh history: The Ghallughara—the massacre—of 1984.

Ten years have elapsed since I had darshan of the Gurdwaras in Maharashtra. I made so many plans to re-visit the place but the opportunity has just come up by His Grace to visit these sanctified places where Guru Gobind Singh Ji spent his final years at Nanded. All the shops and even the airport are named after Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

About 1200 Indian Sikh pilgrims have left for Pakistan to attend the 541st birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the first spiritual leader of the Sikh Community, at Nankana Sahib in Sheikhupura District, even as the Pakistan Government denied visas to 250 Sikh pilgrims.

One of India’s leading social workers, Ela Bhatt, who heads the Self-Employed Women’s Association, or SEWA, said micro-finance firms had lost sight of the fact that the poor needed more than loans to be successful entrepreneurs. They need business and financial advice as well, she said.
