The World Sikh Organization of Canada (WSO) is a non-profit organization with a mandate to promote and protect the interests of Canadian Sikhs, as well as to promote and advocate for the protection of human rights for all individuals, irrespective of race, religion, gender, ethnicity, and social and economic status.

The U.S. Armed Forces are moving in the right direction. According to news reports late last week, the Army will allow Menachem Stern—an orthodox Jewish Rabbi—to attend military chaplaincy training without shaving his religiously-mandated beard.

The Sikh community is very concerned about the NYPD policy prohibiting beards and requiring a hat.... I've always said that if someone wants to put their life on the line to protect my kids, we should accommodate them. I know the NYPD likes to operate like a military operation, but, ironically, the US Army has now allowed Sikh soldiers in!

We have become not a melting pot, with all the ingredients blended together, but a beautiful mosaic – each tile uniquely beautiful whilst also merging into the big picture which has a beauty all its own. Different people, different beliefs, different yearnings, different hopes, different dreams.
