The temple, at the far end of South Grant Street, also is home to thousands of Sikhs on the West Coast. For them, it represents an almost-mystical place deserving of pilgrimage, reverence and historical study.
The parade, which has been running for the past 11 years in Surrey, commemorates one of the most important religious events on the Sikh calendar. More than 2,500 volunteers representing dozens...and hundreds of community organizations and businesses handed out free food and drink along the parade, an important tradition of the event.
The Prabhandak Committee Gurudwara Saheb Ameerpet will organize "Vishaal Deewan" (Mass Congregation), the main attraction of the celebrations at Sri Guru Gobind Singhji Play Grounds, Ameerpet, Hyderabad from 11 am to 4 pm in which over 25,000 Sikh devotees and other community faiths will converge at the program.
