The AAP government had on February 06 recommended to probe the anti-Sikh riots with in one year. Kejriwal recently posted on Twitter: “Compensation for 1984 riots victims is a good step. But it is important they get justice. AAP government announced SIT. Government should notify it now.”
It is notable that Harinder Singh Khalsa was deployed at Norway as a diplomat of India when Indian army had attacked Darbar Sahib. He had resigned from the service in protest against the attack. He headed Punjab Human Rights Organization (PHRO) highlighting excesses committed by state machinery.
As senior AAP leader Rajeev Godara said, "Other than the antiincumbency and correct choice of candidates, it is the rebel in Punjabis which helped AAP do so well here." Fatehgarh Sahib was one of the surprises, where AAP's Harinder Singh Khalsa, former Ambassador to Norway, defeated Congress veteran Sadhu Singh by over 54,000 votes.
"We have decided to recommend to the lieutenant governor (Najeeb Jung) to form a SIT on the killing of Sikhs in 1984 riots. This is a blot on the history of India," Delhi education minister Manish Sisodia told reporters.
