SikhNet is seeking a part time (20hr/week) Fundraising Assistant with focus on Major Giving. This role supports the SikhNet Fundraising and Development department across all income streams, supporting the stewardship and recruitment of supporters, with special attention to major giving and cultivation.
You will work with and report to the Chief Development Officer and collaboratively with the ED, board members, and other SikhNet team members.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Processing donations, send out thank you notes, emails and letters to donors
- Identifying donors and Major gift/donor identification
- Relationship management between donors and Board members and staff
- Donor stewardship
- Information gathering and online research
- CRM: Detail all points of contact with donors and donation data entry
- Travel and prep at fundraising events, occasionally out of hours
- Help manage and grow our existing major donors and prospects
- Be able (and unafraid) to make direct, face-to-face, zoom or telephone solicitations
- Work with CDO and ED to identify communities to visit with our Community Outreach program; plan, prepare and help implement the program; travel with ED to Community Outreach events, share in presentation, major donor and prospect meetings and all events
Major Gift Responsibilities
- Manage and cultivate relationships with existing major gift prospects
- Help grow SikhNet’s planned giving and endowment programs
- Identify new prospects
- Have the ability to empathize with donors
- Be able to clearly communicate SikhNet’s mission
- Help organize, prepare for, and attend community outreach events and individual major donor meetings, which will include some travel.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Preference will be given to the candidate who is fluent in both Punjabi and English.
- You are a true people person, with an outgoing nature, an extrovert who thrives on engaging conversation and is not afraid of the “ask”
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and the confidence to deal with supporters over email, on the phone or by letter.
- Fundraising experience
- You are comfortable on the phone and on zoom
- You are comfortable using a donor database, prospect research and other wealth screening tools
- You are able to establish and maintain good working relationships in SikhNet and with outside constituencies
- You are organized, prepared, detail-oriented and follow through on promises
- Good written and verbal skills
- Knowledge / experience of using Google Drive, including Docs, Sheets and Slides
Physical requirements
You must live in North America (US or Canada). This is non-negotiable.
You need a quiet home office space, with a strong internet connection, and a computer with a good video camera and microphone/headset.
You must be able to spend most of your time listening, talking, working on the computer and phone and occasionally flexible hours or outside of normal working hours. Some travel will be required.
Valid driver's license, insurance and passport.

Entry level position, 20 hours a week. Pay is up to $22/hour depending on experience.
