WaheGuru Ji Ka Khalsa
WaheGuru Ji Ki Fateh

I am sitting in Oakland waiting for the Oakland Art Mur Mur to start. Listening to Guru Ganesha Singh singing "Ma".

img_0485 (23K)I heard this chant last month in San Francisco. Guru Ganesha Singh along with Snatam Kaur and Ajeet Kaur graced San Francisco with their presence.

Yes, I was complaining about the expensive tickets at the concert and about 2 weeks before the concert, they opened up the balcony for $15 a ticket. Fifteen bux ticket, I had to go. This was my first Snatam Kaur concert, even though I have one of her CD that has played in my car since 2007. FYI. She is the only woman who has made me cry for no reason at all.

I sat in the balcony of Nourse Theatre and listened to some soul moving music. The one chant that still resonates with me is "Ma" - and I have never prayed for my mother and my masi. I am blessed to have a wonderful mother who joins the rank of billions of wonderful mothers on this planet. This being my first Chant concert, I really did not know what to do. I sang along with them and soon I was in some sort of a zone where I was simply chanting for my mother and my masi (mother's sister).

A few chants later, this whole venue was chanting "Satnam" and "Waheguru".

I have NEVER EVER seen a room full of people, mostly that don't have the Sikh roop, sing Kirtan or part of Mul Mantra.

I have no words to describe the emotions I felt. I was confused, happy, ecstatic, curious...

Snatam Kaur and Guru Ganesha Singh along with others on the stage had managed to make this world a bit better.

What these two are doing for Sikhi in the western world is nothing short of amazing and more and more people know about Sikhi because of them. I am grateful for their love and devotion to Sikhi, thanks to all of them for making this world better.

I do want to change the subject a little and talk about two Sikhs that continue to inspire me to serve. Guruka Singh and GuruMustuk Singh, both are leaders behind Sikhnet. I used Sikhnet for the 1st time in 1998, that was close to 16/17 years ago. Sikhnet has grown soooooo much in that time and the team behind Sikhnet is relentless and continues to offer more and more. Their thirst for continuing to improve, shows that they are crazy about serving our community.

We at Gosikh.com have been blessed to work with them from our 1st year and we donate a small amount every month.

If you love Sikhnet, and believe that Sikhnet is providing a valuable service, please do consider donating $5/month, that is $60/year or a small one time donation.

Here is a link to donate to Sikhnet:

Please do note that we don't get any commission or credit from Sikhnet. The Source is purely to let them know we are sending them to you.

I do want to thank Sikhnet for taking us along on their journey. They have served millions of pages since their inception and they continue to serve the global Sikh community. They are valuable to our community and we want to wish them a looooooooong life, may Sikhnet continue to thrive and touch everyone.

We have one final announcement, actually four announcements:

1. We will have a new CEO, GuruPrakash Kaur Khalsa. She will be our CEO for one day (14th of November). This is hopefully our yearly tradition. She will run the operations on that day and her duties include donating a % of our sales to a cause that she picks. She will also give away 3 Turbans to 3 different Sikhs. She is a wonderful Sikh and she has a small business of her own. On 14th of Nov. I will be out and about on a bicycle ride. Soooo, she is in charge and I will take charge on 15th.
2. Our next shipment is here somewhere in California, being taken off the ship and towards Customs. We have a few new items to share and I will send a newsletter when I get the shipment in the warehouse.
3. Starting Thanksgiving week, we go to once a week mailing. I am on travel and Lillie will be mailing on Wednesdays.
4. We have a few Satnam T-Shirts for sale, the prices are reduced for now. The T-Shirts are unique and are made by American Apparel (California to be exact) and screen printed in Oakland.

I also want to thank the Muslim community across Europe and US for giving us a chance to serve them. It is an honor to serve everyone, irrespective of the path they take. I am humbled to be given a chance to serve you on your spiritual and religious path.
