During Easter vacation it was again time for Sikh camp in Norway. It was held from 1st to 3rd April at Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Oslo. More than 100 campers from age 7 to 20 participated on the three-day long camp. Sewadars came all the way from England to help unite the Norwegian Sikhs with Gurbani. The evening diwans were truly a highlight of each day. Candlelight, flowers and 130 kids singing the theme shabad, written by Guru Arjan Dev Ji, “Pori Asaa Ji Mansa Mere Raam” from their hearts makes you forget everything else!
The campers were divided into two groups, one for 7-12 years and the other for 12+. The group of small campers had many different workshops. They learned kirtan, tying dastar, Darbar Sahib sewa, making roti and not least they made beautiful posters showing what they had learned from the camp.
The group for 12+ were divided into three new groups and each group got their own topic. The topics were: Purity and wisdom, maya jaal and heaven and hell. Each group got a shabad and some questions related to their topic. They were supposed to do a research on their topic and present it as they wanted. The results were absolutely amazing! Some groups had made videos, others presentations and role-plays.
The judge-panel of four had a really hard time choosing the winner. They had three nominees, but in the end, a group of young Kaurs from Lier won with an amazing presentation and video about maya jaal.
With Waheguru Ji's kirpa the atmosphere throughout the whole camp was great!
