The news of the passing of Bhai Surat Singh, more reverently known as Puran Ji, has come to social and panthic circles.
Puran Ji breathed his last yesterday 21st Decembrer, 2008 at Amritsar. He was 83. His bhog and antim ardas will be performed at Manjit Sahib in Darbar Sahib, Golden Temple on Sunday 28th December, 2008. It will be a special diwan to start with Asa di Vaar since early morning and will continue till noon.
Puran Ji, as hise name suggests, was one who had attained perfection in the spiritual arena was known to have lead the life of a puritan and religious. Absolutely keeping a distance from the politics and politicians but still kept him actively involved in the panthic affairs.
Every day he was there in Golden Temple from mid night to early morning doing nitnem and recitation of banee with a large number of devotees.
He was a perfect role model and changed the life of so many with his soft speaking and practical way Gurmukh life. It will not be exaggeration to say that he was in fact one of the few who led his life by practicing what he preached.
