Welcoming back Avtar Singh (@thesikhcoach) Chanbir Kaur (@delhimom ) and Aveer Waris Singh for Episode Two of This Sikhi Life.
This episode explores how this family weave Gurbani into the fabric of their daily lives. Each family member shares their own beautiful way of making Gurbani the guiding force from the start of the day to its very end.
Beyond daily paath and Gurbani Kirtan, the family also reflects on the complementary practices that strengthen their Sikhi journey: physical fitness, learning and retelling Sikh history, remembering the sacrifices of the Gurus, and maintaining Punjabi as a living language within their home.
“Our home is like a mini Gurdwara… it feels like Gurbani lives in this house,” says Chanbir Kaur as she describes how these practices shape, anchor, and inspire their lives.
Avtar Singh further expands on the holistic approach their family takes:
“As well as Gurbani making us mentally strong, we have to be physically strong. Aveer does many physical activities, and we find this helps him build resilience, learn teamwork, and develop discipline. When this is combined with being familiar with our history, staying connected to our culture, and speaking our language, it helps bring everything into alignment.
Reading from the Siri Guru Granth Sahib together every day is really important. We want our children to understand the contributions of the Gurus, and how many saints and scholars have shaped the Gurbani that guides us.”
