Coffs-Clarence Police have thanked Woolgoolga's large Sikh community for its help with an investigation into alleged sexual assaults in the area late last week.
Wed 11 Feb 2015: One man has been charged over the alleged assaults of three teenage girls at a Woolgoolga property, north of Coffs Harbour last Thursday, February 5, 2015.
Two other suspects flew to China on Friday, February 6, 2015.
All three are Indian international students, who were travelling through the region.
Coffs-Clarence Crime manager, Detective Inspector Darren Jameson said the local Sikh community has been extraordinarily helpful.
"We have strong working relationships with the Indian community based in the Coffs-Clarence area," he said.
"A large number of them have been continually assisting us throughout these inquiries.
"Quite frankly without the community's support in the Woolgoolga area, we would not have been able to bring this matter to a conclusion so quickly."
Detective Inspector Jameson said despite police attempts to prevent it, two other suspects have flown to China.
"Police took a number of steps to prevent the persons that we believed were identified as part of this crime from leaving the country," he said.
"We ran into a number of issues including the correct names, and the correct spelling of their names.
"But Immigration was alerted last Friday afternoon that we believed they may try to leave the country."
