The Gold Bracelet It's strange that some things become more relevant with time. And, just when we think we have made a lot of progress as a community to create more awareness, we are reminded how much more work needs to be done. The movie "The Gold Bracelet" hits the right notes on both these counts. It is a story of an honest and hard working Sikh immigrant in U.S. who is trying to do the best for his family, but the tragic events of 9/11 change his world. The movie struck a chord with us and we screened it as work in progress during our 2007 Festival; only to be reminded again in 2012 how relevant the film remains, in light of the senseless killings in Wisconsin gurdwara. With the intent of providing it more exposure and helping it get the attention of Hollywood executives, we will be screening it during this year's SikhLens Festival. For the same reason, we plan on having a panel discussion of people from the movie industry, law enforcement officials, legislators, academics, etc. So, please join us, and bring your friends from all backgrounds.
