OAK CREEK, Wis. —Seven domes now adorn the Sikh temple in Oak Creek as tributes to the lives lost and a nod to a sacred temple in India.
"The next step is moving forward with life, with their memories," said Kamaljit Saini, whose mother was killed in the shootings.
"It's a completion of dad's dream. Though he was taken early, seeing these up here kind of fulfills his vision," said Amardeep Kaleka, whose father was a victim in the shootings.
"We have lost my brother, but the spirit of the people is very good," said Dr. Jagjit Kaleka, whose brother was killed last year.
There are five domes outside and two inside the temple.
They symbolize the six people killed last year. The seventh, they said, is for the community's loss as a whole.
