Fresno, CA (KFSN) -- The high heat didn't stop one of the largest anniversary celebrations in the Central Valley.

Some 7,000 Sikhs from all across the state turned out in Selma Sunday, dressed in traditional clothing.

The massive parade wound its ways through the streets of Selma, in honor of the 310th anniversary of the Sikh religion.

Organizers said the event is a celebration of peace and prosperity. This is the 15th year for the Sikh Parade in the Valley and the first time in the brand new Sikh Center of the Pacific Coast, which opened last year.
