On the Horizon...

Wow! One year in the books! The collective experience we all have enjoyed has been something no one will ever forget. Not only did we make a difference in the lives of those we aimed to help but it is safe to say every person who has volunteered with SevaTruck has been impacted in a positive way.

We are on track to hit our goal of serving more than 10,000 meals in 2017 and we are welcoming in some fabulous new partners and donors. We will have some exciting news in the VERY near future regarding expanding the reach and impact of our work. Ever wonder if we can still call ourselves SevaTruck if we have more than one set of wheels...

Partner Spotlight - LAYC

LAYC (153K)The Latin American Youth Center (LAYC) has been a part of SevaTruck's journey from Day One. In fact, our first ever meal service was held at LAYC on April 14th of last year.

LAYC was founded nearly 50 years ago to address the absence of services for the emerging Latino community of Washington DC. In the early days, they offered educational and vocational activities after school and during the summer months at several locations in the community.

Over the decades, LAYC has evolved into a multi-faceted organization, empowering a diverse population of youth to achieve a successful transition to adulthood, through multi-cultural, comprehensive, and innovative programs that address the specific social, academic, and career needs of today's youth. They serve over 4,000 youth and families annually through youth centers, school-based sites, and public charters schools throughout the District and Maryland's Prince George's and Montgomery Counties.

SevaTruck is proud to partner with LAYC in the tremendous impact they provide to our community and we hope to be supporting them through the next half-century!

Service Spotlight

Service1 (23K)I had the opportunity to volunteer at SevaTruck and serve meals to children at Burtonsville Elementary School. I believe SevaTruck really works hard to serve nutritious and tasty meals to those who need them. I had a great time working with other volunteers as we prepared, cooked, and served the food. It was great to see the looks on the kids faces as they received their food. I love SevaTruck and hope to be a part of more events.
