Ludhiana - 24 January: Delegates at the Economic Growth Summit that comprised people engaged in Industry, Trade and Commerce today resolved to join hands to strengthen economic co-operation. The focus is to "excel together" and ensure balanced economic growth of Punjab. This unique event conceptualized by the council for social empowerment and economic development of internationally acclaimed voluntary organization Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle was hosted by Guru Ram Dass Centre for Economic Growth.
Jaspal Singh, the convener of the Center, in collaboration with the Science and Technology Entrepreneurs' Park, Small Industries Development Bank of India, Ministry of Small Medium and Micro Enterprise and DIC, GRDCEG will be setting up thirteen incubation centers at different places in Punjab that will provide mentorship, technical assistance and 'go to' market strategy to potential entrepreneurs and startups. Twelve young startups were felicitated during the event.
Sardar Maheshinder Singh, Advisor to the Chief Minister, was the Chief Guest in this session. He contented that discipline is the prior step to strengthen the economic growth of the young entrepreneurs. Youngsters have to abide the teachings of their parents and the trainers to achieve positions in their life. Presiding over this workshop was Dr Sardara Singh Johl, Chancellor Central University, Punjab who appreciated the novel endeavour of the Study Circle in encouraging start-ups and inspiring youth to adopt enterpreneurship. He quoted Japanese model for putting farm sector in Punjab back on growth track.
Leading industrialist Sardar Upkaar Singh, General Secretary of Chamber of Industrial and commercial undertakings (CICU) gavea presentation on 'enterprise and entrepreneurship.' Earlier during his key note address, Dr Brijpal Singh, former Professor of Economics, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie spoke on the topic 'Sustainable Growth Path of Gurbani.' He stressed on building leadership for strengthening and encouraging community participation for holistic economic growth. S. Gurmeet Singh Kular, President Federation of Industries and commercial undertaking, shared his experiences about successful Industrial ventures.
Speaking about the Role of Sikh Diaspora in Eco.Growth of Punjab, Dr.Jaswinder Singh said that the Economy of Punjab has dropped to 9th place in the recent past. Punjabi Diaspora, with its hardwork and dedication, can play a major role in the economic development of the State. Dr.Joginder Singh Prof. & Head (Retd.) Economic & Sociology Deptt., PAU, Ludhiana gave his presentation on agraian Crisis & Shifting to Agricultural Business. Dr Sarabjeet Singh also from PAU gave a presenatation on Igniting Enterpreneurship.
Technical sessions for budding young entrepreneurs and startups was conducted by the convenor of the summit CA Jasminder Singh. Karanvir Singh of the Visionum group motivated potential startups to build their own enterprise. A panel discussion was facilitated by Preetpal Singh of 01 Synergy group. A panel of experts comprising Dr. Col.Dalwinder Singh, eminent educationist and consultant , Er. Surinder Singh, Former Director STEP , Principal Hari Singh, Ex principal Guru Nanak Eng College , Dr.Balwinder Singh, Head Department of Economics, GHGK College, Gurusar Sudhar, Harinder Singh Charted Accountant, S.Inderjit Singh, MD Steelman rolling mills and Iqbal Singh a leading Industrialist, answered a volley of questions put forth by inquisitive budding entrepreneurs. This session was chaired by Upkaar Singh, General Secretary CICU and MD of New SWAN Multitech Ltd.
Divjot Singh, Co-convenor of the summit called upon the business community to contribute their Daswand to the Guru Ram Dass Capital Investment Seed Fund for providing returnable grants to first generation entrepreneurs and start-ups. Proposing the vote of thanks, Jaspal Singh, Convener of the Guru Ram Dass Centre for Economic Growth, asked young people to come up with business proposals and commercially viable enterprise ideas before expert committee at GRDCEG which shall examine and consider these for all kinds of support for its implementation.
