Nirvair Khalsa Dal aka: Guru Granth Sahibh Sewak Jatha
Introduction
Baba Ranjit Singh ji (Dhadrian wale) started this branch of association in the year of 2004. The main objective of the camp is to make the youth aware, as well as increase their knowledge in the basic fundamentals of Sikhism. Enlighten them with the stories of Sikh heroes who had made great sacrifices! This will contribute to make their foundation strong which will in turn give them guidance to lead their lives as they blossom. Additionally, this will help them understand the uniqueness in Sikhism is what makes it beautiful. Kids will learn to be responsible individuals and will be encouraged to participate in Seva (selfless work) throughout their journey in life.
There are 20 active members in the association who are doing Seva with devotion towards the tenth Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He was the almighty who sacrificed his children to have the right of religious freedom for others. The current members reside in different villages and they encourage the parents to send their kids to the day camps during the summer breaks. These camps help keep young kids stay engaged in activities and creates a fun experience among the youngsters. These camps welcome kids of all ages and religious backgrounds. We encourage diversity which will help kids better understand and respect each other's different beliefs.
Locations of camps currently: Ponta Sahib, Naraingarh, Barara
A few of the many activities done during day camping:
- Watch religious movies for example : Chaar Sahibhzaade
- Learn Sikh history
- Learn basics of Sikhism, for example: what are the five K's?
- Learn how to recite Paath (daily Sikh prayers), for example : Japji Sahib
- Learn how to play Gathka
- Learn how to play harmonium and tabla
- Langar is arranged by the association
- Free books are given to children for them to take home and practice Gurmukhi
- If anyone decides to take on Amrit that service is also available
I am proud to say my uncle Pritpal Singh is one of the active members. I highly recommend the entire Punjab to participate in such activities because our youth is our future. It is our duty to guide them in such activities which will help them understand the important reasons behind religious practices.
Little steps contribute to make a bigger difference in this enormous world of ours. As Mahatma Gandhi ji had said "be the change you want to see in the world."
