It is with great sadness that we announce the passing away of Mata Harnam Kaur, wife of the late Sardar Beant Singh (of village Pasla, Jullundhur, Punjab, India), on the 28th January 2009, in Leicester, UK.

She lived to the grand age of 105 years and leaves behind her 2 sons; Sardar Gurmeet Singh Pasla and Sardar Surjit Singh Pasla and daughter Sardarni Gurmeet Kaur, along with 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Mata Harnam Kaur was born in the village Palpota, Jullundhur in 1903, and following her marriage to the late Sardar Beant Singh she lived in village Pasla, Jullundhur with her family. She then came over to Coventry, UK in the 1960’s with her youngest son Sardar Surjit Singh Pasla. She and her family then moved to Newcastle upon Tyne in the early 1980’s and recently came to reside in Leicester in 2005 along with Surjit and his family.

She was truly a great mother, who bestowed her love, kindness and wisdom upon not only her immediate family, but all those who knew her.  Whilst the world had changed so much during her life time, the one thing that remained constant was her No. 1 priority in life which was to love and look after her children and their families.

We shall miss her dearly and thank her for taking care of us all. We have been blessed to have had you as our mother, for which we give thanks to God.

We pray that she will know rest in peace.  Our dear ‘Bebeh’. With love from your family.
