Avijit Chakraborty has ridden 49,000 kilometers - 30,447 miles through 46 countries in 15 months.
It’s the second time in five years he has stopped at the South Salem Dasmesh Darbar Sikh Temple along his journey around the world to both get into the Guinness Book of World Records and to spread environmental awareness.
Chakraborty is a native of Calcutta, India. His journey in 2006 was cut short due to an illness in the family, he said.
He will continue his journey Feb. 3 when he rides to California, then through Nevada and Texas until he ultimately reaches his final stop in Argentina.
“It will take another four months to complete,” he said.
