Celebration through selfless service: Sunday 17th November marks the 544th birth-anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, founder of Sikhism. He was born on 1469 in then undivided India and now in Pakistan.
Inspired by his message of community service, Sikhs of Dublin gurdwara conducted a neighbourhood cleaning drive in sandymount area. On Tuesday, 12 November 2013, around 30 members went around the neighbourhood of Dublin gurdwara and swept the streets which are littered with tree leaves.
When informed of proposed cleaning drive, Dublin city council provided bags, brushes and gloves etc for the task at hand. The drive went for around 4 hours and nearly 70 bags were filled with tree leaves. Many residents came out of their homes to appreciate what was going on. Overall it was very fruitful exercise.
