Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has carried out his first official engagement since undergoing heart surgery in January.
Mr Singh, 76, who has a history of heart problems, met Benin President Boni Yayi in Delhi.
The two leaders had talks for 90 minutes and signed agreements between the two nations.
Mr Singh smiled and waved to photographers after welcoming Mr Yayi to his residence.
Surgeons performed a quintuple heart bypass in an 11-hour operation five and a half weeks ago. Mr Singh has previously had heart surgery on two other occasions, in 1990 and 2004.
Mr Singh, India's first Sikh prime minister, is expected to be the candidate for prime minister for his Congress Party at general elections in April and May.
