Guru Amar Das Ji writes, "They are said to be husband and wife, not who merely sit together. They alone are called husband and wife, who have one light in two bodies," (Guru Granth Sahib, Ang 788.)
But what does that mean? How does a couple make that happen? What can a couple do to make a marriage last a lifetime? How does one get the best out of marriage? How can a couple grow their love over time?
These are a few of the questions couples will get to tackle this Labor Day weekend at Camp Ik Jot.
Hosted by the Sikh Dharamsal of San Antonio, is a Camp Ik Jot is a program for young and newly married Sikh couples to strengthen their relationship and think about next 40 to 50 years together.
The first five years of a marriage can be exciting as a couple experiences new things together. But at the same time, these years require drastic personal adjustments, which can be stressful. This camp is a way for couples to acquire tools on how to make the good times last and learn how to navigate through the rocky times, with love.
The Sikh Dharamsal invites all young Sikh couples to register for Camp Ik Jot. Space is limited to the first twenty couples, so don't hesitate! http://sikhdharamsal.org/camp-ik-jot/
Participants will have the change to hear new perspectives from other couples and understand the Guru's vision on marriage. Camp Ik Jot provides a reflective, collaborative environment that allows campers to develop their relationship with their spouse and the Guru through activities, workshops and discussions. Topics range from family relationship building, spiritual development, and practical marital advice.
