The Sikh Missionary College, Ludhiana Circle, Srinagar Zone, which has been dedicated to promoting Gurmat teachings for over 40 consecutive years, organized the Gurmat Chetna Sikh Youth Camp to disseminate Sikh principles, philosophy, and Gurbani guidance among the youth.     This camp was held at the picturesque Gurdwara Singh Sabha, Tangmarg, Baramulla, approximately 40 kilometers from Srinagar, from August 24th to August 26th, 2024.

The camp witnessed the participation of over 85 youth, aged 12-25, primarily from Srinagar, Baramulla, and Anantnag. The camp commenced on August 24th around 5 PM, with Senior Missionary Sardar Narinder Singh providing essential guidelines and preliminary information to the participants. Following the evening Diwan, students from the Youth Gurmat Class presented a special play titled "Gunvanti," dedicated to the contemporary Sikh society and families.During the camp, the participants were divided into four teams named after contemporary Gursikhs who were instrumental in promoting Sikhism on the soil of Kashmir. The groups were named Mata Bhag Bhari Group, Bhai Kattu Shah Ji Group, Bhai Madho Sodhi Group, and Bhai Suthra Shah Ji Group. Each group performed various duties at different times during the camp.

Special guests, including Dr. Sarabjit Singh Renuka and Veer Gurvinder Singh Ji from the Sikh Missionary College, Ludhiana, provided insightful discourses on Gurmat, self-discipline, and inspiration to become successful students, which were delivered in a highly impactful manner. Additionally, local youth, including young boys and girls affiliated with the Sikh Missionary College, Srinagar Circle, presented Shabad Vichar, poetry, lectures, Kirtan, and other related activities.

To further encourage the participants, various other programs were organized, including group tasks, religious quizzes, Gurmukhi calligraphy sessions, physical games, and a spiritual quiz. These activities were conducted by senior missionary members and young leaders. To connect the participants with the spirituality of Gurbani amidst nature, a Kirtan session with traditional stringed instruments was held about a kilometer away from the Gurdwara Sahib in a serene environment. Participants were honored with recognition awards for their exemplary contributions during the camp. The "Best Camper" award was given to Dharamveer Singh and Amrit Kaur, while the "Best Diary Maintenance" award was presented to Jaskirat Kaur, Harleen Kaur, and Rasbir Singh. Gurdwara Granthi Bhai Harcharan Singh and Sevadaar Bhai Gurmeet Singh, who contributed significantly to the success of the camp, were also honored.

The Langar service throughout the camp was provided by Bhai Suraj Singh and his team, Vikramjeet Singh and Satbir Singh, from the Seva Dal, Srinagar. The camp concluded on August 26th with resounding slogans of triumph, marking the successful completion of this memorable event. Special thanks were extended to the local Gurdwara Management Committee, Tangmarg, for their invaluable support, the tireless efforts of the members of the Sikh Missionary College, Kashmir Zone, and especially to the Chairman of the Sikh Missionary College, Ludhiana, Harjit Singh Ji, for his unwavering support in making this camp a success.
