A pharmacy student from Reading University has written himself a prescription for good health during his final year.

Gurinder Singh has signed up for the Mizuno Reading Half Marathon to raise money for Kidney Research UK.

The 22-year-old, from Pitcroft Avenue in Earley, admits he wasn’t an exercise freak before he took on this challenge, but now he is hooked on running.

And his determination to do whatever he can to help people with kidney disease is driving him on over the miles.

Gurinder said: “I have done hospital volunteer placements in the summer holidays and I worked on the renal unit. I got attached to the patients, I saw them coming in and out and struggling with their illness.

“I am keeping myself motivated. With my studies in my final masters year I thought it would be a good idea to get some oxygen to my brain.”

Gurinder is a vegetarian and he has always been keen on eating healthily. Now he has been building up the distance he runs every week.

Please support him in his endevour.
