Dr. U.S. Dhaliwal Director Dhaliwal Hospital, Amritsar and Ex. Director Sri Guru Ram Das Medical College, Amritsar has been elected as Secretary General Asia Federation of International College of Surgeons in its world conference held at Kaohsiung in Taiwan from 2nd to 7th November 2018 defeating a Chinese Surgeon.
The voting was done by surgeons of all the 117 member countries of the world. The International College of Surgeons is the biggest organization of surgery of all specialties in the world with HQ at Chicago. It is the only organization associated with the world health organization (WHO) for surgical services in the world. It is sub divided into 7 Federations e.g., Asia, Europe and North America, etc.
Dr Dhaliwal who is the president of its Indian section will now be looking after the activities of this body in all the Asian Federation countries in respect to surgical art and teaching.
He is the first Indian and Punjabi Sikh to receive this responsibility and honour to our country and Punjab.
