EcoSikh Welcomes Sumeet Kaur, Program Manager

EcoSikh is proud to introduce Sumeet Kaur as Program Manager of EcoSikh North America. Sumeet is a recent graduate of the George Washington University with a bachelor's degree in International Relations. She is a strong advocate of human rights, especially in the field of environmental development. Her academic and personal life has been heavily focused on environmental preservation and community outreach, especially within the Sikh community.

As president of the GW Sikh Student Association, Sumeet promoted Sikhism awareness at GWU and in the DC area by hosting lectures and performing service (sewa) at local gurdwaras. As program manager for EcoSikh, she hopes to bring her community outreach and organizing skills to engage the sangat and enrich their connection to Sikhi and the environment. EcoSikh is a forum through which Sikhs are engaged on environmental issues globally. Since its inception in 2009, EcoSikh has facilitated many exciting projects in Punjab and around the world. Over 2000 Gurdwaras and Sikh institutions around the world have participated in the Sikh Environment Day on March 14, an initiative of EcoSikh to mark Guru Har Rai's contribution towards nature preservation.

On June 27th, EcoSikh, through its Eco-Amritsar initiative, is celebrating the 437^th Amritsar Foundation Day in collaboration with many religious and civic organizations in Amritsar to create awareness about long term ecology of the holy city.

EcoSikh is working with national and international organizations to bring technology and planning to make Nanded , another sacred city for Sikhs, a eco-friendly and sustainable city.
