Consul General of India Meets with Sikhs in New Mexico |

In the evening, the Mayor of Santa Fe, David Coss, along with his wife Carol and son Dylan had dinner with Mrs. Thomas and Mr. Sinha at the Indian House restaurant in Santa Fe. The mayor and his family enjoyed hearing stories from the Consul General about her work in international diplomacy. Members from the Sikh community in New Mexico welcomed and hosted the Consul General during her visit. The main hosts for the Consul General’s visit here were Pawan Singh Dhindsa and Bhai Sahib Satpal Singh Kohli, Ambassador-at-Large for Sikh Dharma International and the son-in-law of the late Siri Singh Sahib Bhai Sahib Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogiji.From left to right: Satpal Singh Kohli, Mayor David Coss, Consul General Thomas, Carol Coss, Pawan Singh Dhindsa. The Siri Singh Sahib brought Kundalini Yoga and Sikh Dharma to the United States in the late 1960’s and early 70’s. In his later years, the Siri Singh Sahib made New Mexico his primary home. Many Kundalini Yoga students from around the world adopted the Sikh faith due to the outreach of the Siri Singh Sahib. It was through his efforts that Sikh Dharma was officially recognized as a religion in the United States in 1971. Members from the Sikh community founded by the Siri Singh Sahib in the West welcomed the Consul General to New Mexico. These included Daya Singh Khalsa, CEO and President of Akal Security; MSS Hari Jiwan Singh Khalsa, Chief of Protocol; SS Ek Ong Kaar Kaur Khalsa, Creative Director for Sikh Dharma International; Sat Kaur Khalsa from Canada; and Uttampreet Kaur from Bolivia. |
