For this position we are looking for a single person who has experience with both graphic and web design. The successful applicant must demonstrate solid experience, the ability to work independently and with the SikhNet Team, and be able to deliver projects on time. We are looking for someone who can lead the project and content creation without a lot of direction and input from the team and can make good judgement about what might be most impactful.
Graphic Design
- Art design, branding, and original graphics creation for major SikhNet marketing initiatives.
- Create logos for apps and sub-brands/services
- Creating visual themes/hero images for web sections and Learning Center courses (depending on style, could include illustration)
- Illustrations for SikhNet Audio Stories
- Design for SikhNet marketing initiatives. Familiarity with Sikh culture and iconography is required. Ability to create original Sikh themed graphics without having a lot of stock photography to work from.
- Design for digital marketing pushes - pop ups, emails, and sponsorship images, wallpapers
- Design for printed materials - flyers, booklets, t-shirts, vinyl banners, bumper stickers, and magnets, signs, etc.
- Creating graphics for social media marketing of content
- Thumbnail images for YouTube videos
- Maintaining and developing a consistent look and feel for all SikhNet materials, digital and printed.
- Good organizational and communication skills
Web Design
- Proficiency in front-end development web programming languages such as HTML and CSS. JavaScript experience a plus.
- HTML general formatting and layout of website designs (drupal/dream weaver) (eg: making a visually impactful Get involved page, updating SGGS page, layout and formatting of new service pages like SGGS audio page, SikhNet apps page, etc.
- Yearly creation of Annual report (wordpress) - HTML, Web Design/formatting and Graphics, Illustrations, Infographics.
- Design of marketing/fundraising messages
- Email / Content Layout and formatting - Making emails and content look good. General newsletters, learning center course landing pages, marketing emails, and fundraising emails.
- Design web/app popup messages for fundraising and general marketing.
Requirements
- Proven graphic design experience
- A strong portfolio of illustrations or other graphics
- Familiarity with design software and technologies (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop)
- A keen eye for aesthetics and details
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines
- Degree in Design, Fine Arts or related field is a plus
- Good understanding of content management systems (wordpress/drupal).
- Excellent eye for visual representation of the SikhNet brand, and for all things visual, great emails, landing pages, presentations, etc
- Must be able to work with short timelines, quick turnaround, and timeliness on all projects
- Computer/web savvy - Extremely comfortable with technology, smartphones (iOS and Android), apps, computers, online services and software tools. Able to figure out and learn new things easily on their own.
- Self motivated and project driver, and able to work effectively on their own as well as with a team
- Strong experience with digital marketing
Time Commitment
This is a scalable part-time job, 5-20 hours per week. One year minimum commitment to SikhNet.
There is some flexibility in setting specific work hours and days that work for you within the framework of SikhNet’s work week. A schedule would need to be set in advance and agreed upon.
Work Location
We would love to have you in our offices in Espanola, New Mexico (USA) as a team member, but willing to explore remote work options.
Probation Period
If selected, a probation period of 90 days on the job will be used to assess if you are a good fit for SikhNet.

Video Content Creation Position
We are looking for someone passionate about video and looking to use this skill to inspire and uplift people all over the world. Video is a key format that SikhNet uses to educate and impact change in the world. This position would be the driver of this area and create/manage all things video for SikhNet. The successful applicant must demonstrate solid experience, the ability to work independently and with the SikhNet Team, and be able to deliver projects on time. We are looking for someone who can lead content creation without a lot of direction and input from the team and can make good judgement about what might be most impactful.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the overall video content and organization of video content for SikhNet's YouTube Channel and Facebook/Instagram
- Developing new ideas and direction for youtube video content
- Record and edit video interviews for our YouTube "Inspirations Series" and video content for SikhNet Learning Center online courses
- Record/Produce mini docu videos of SikhNet users telling their story of how SikhNet impacted their life.
- Record/Produce mini docu videos of inspiring Sikhs out in the world and other related ideas.
- Creating other video content for fundraisers, general marketing of sikhnet services and other needs.
- Managing intro/outro and posting of animated sikhnet stories created by third party and posting to social media and website.
- Taking SikhNet audio story mp3 and making video of it with still image and inserting animated intro outro for posting to social media and website
- Creating english video sub-title files for use on facebook when content is autoplayed and muted.
Requirements
- Proven work experience as a video editor
- Proven work experience with recording video interviews (camera, sound, lighting)
- Solid experience with digital technology and editing software packages (e.g. Premiere, After Effects, etc)
- Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio
- Creative mind and storytelling skills
- Excellent eye for visual representation of the SikhNet brand, and for all things visual, great emails, landing pages, presentations, etc
- Must be able to work with short timelines, quick turnaround, and timeliness on all projects
