Although society protests against dowry, many many Sikhs individually still continue to encourage it.This practice is not confined to Sikhs alone but throughout the Indian sub continent.But in Sikhi, it has been clearly prohibited, and places women on an equal footing with men. Although religiously banned, it is culturally ingrained and many find it hard to let go of this gruesome practice of dahez.

Dr. Sahota is a member of the American Society of Agronomy for many years now and has been an Eastern Director of the CSA for two terms before becoming the President Elect of the CSA last year. He is a life member of the Indian Society of Agronomy and Indian Society of Soil Science and has held executive positions in the Indian Scientific Societies.

News: Man throws away winning $10,000 lottery ticket but recovers it
Cedric Jackson (center) said it was a 'blessing from God' that Sarabjeet 'Ricky' Singh (right) from Rick's Food Mart in Rome, Georgia, was able to retrieve the winning tickets from a trash can in his office. Jackson's girlfriend Kizie Donaldson made sure the employee got a large tip when he returned.
