Over 250 years ago, during a time when the forces of Ahmed Shah Abdali were causing harm to Sikhs, a handwritten copy of the Guru Granth Sahib found its refuge in the Kuthala village's gurdwara.
In 1469, Guru Nanak Devji was born to Mehta Kalyan Das Bedi and Tripta Devi in the village of Talwandi, also called Nankana Sahib, near Lahore, which is now in Pakistan.
Guru Nanak was the founder of Sikhism and was the first Guru among the ten Sikh Gurus. Sikhs worldwide joyfully mark Guru Nanak's Birthday, also known as Pawan Prakash Utsav and celebrate it with deep devotion and festive activities.
