Sikh Career Day stemmed from a series of College Preparation workshops previously given in Queens, with the intent of providing guidance and support to Sikh youth making tough career decisions.

Our goal has always been to reach out to the communities. Sikhs have faced "hate crimes". We feel that the media and literature can "Connect Communities". We encourage poetry and contributions. We are all facing tough economy times. The only way is to reach out to the communities and work together.

"It strengthens the case for all women of reproductive age having greater access to nutritional, education and lifestyle support to improve the health of the next generation, and to reduce the risk of the conditions such as diabetes and heart disease, which often follow obesity."

The appearance of a Khanda image, Sikhism's holy symbol, at Gurdwara Sahib Serdang Lama has set the Sikh community abuzz with excitement. The image was seen forming on the rumala, a yellow cloth covering Sikhism's holy book, the Guru Granth Sahib.

“We are very concerned that the Punjab Police has not taken the incident of the willful removal of a Sikh’s turban seriously. It’s an affront to justice that Punjab Police are prepared to ignore a judicial order. ...to issue a statement explaining why the concerned police officer did not attend court yesterday and failed to file a report on the incident,” said Mejindarpal Kaur, Legal Director of United Sikhs.

“I was not sure if there would be a significant difference between vegetarians and non-vegetarians, and I was surprised by just how much the numbers contrast,” he continues. “It indicates that lifestyle factors such as diet can be important in the prevention of metabolic syndrome.”
