Honor the 300th Anniversary of Guru Gaddi by making a Pledge
to deepen your own personal relationship with the Guru

For so many people, the Siri Guru Granth Sahib is deeply revered, but not always understood or meditated upon. This month, as our global Sikh Sangat remembers and celebrates the 300th anniversary of Guru Gaddi, we can each make a Personal Pledge to deepen our own relationship with our Guru.

"Walking one step towards the Guru's feet, the True Guru walks millions of steps to welcome you. By repeating the mantra given by the True Guru only once, Guru blesses you with love and devotion and with repetition of the Name again and again. If, with devotion and reverence, one places only one coin in front of the Guru, the Guru blesses him with all treasures. The True Guru is the treasure of all mercy. his glory is infinite. Always, always always, I bow, I bow, I bow, I bow..." - Vaars of Bhai Gur Das Ji

We have selected a simple list if things you can choose from and pledge to do.

Japji Sahib every day for 40 days
Commit to read or listen consciously to Japji Sahib, for at least 40 days.
There is a saying that the entire Siri Guru Granth Sahib explains Japji Sahib by Guru Nanak. By understanding Japji Sahib, you can understand the essence of the Guru. Guru Hargobind said that those who sincerely meditate on Japji Sahib and understand its meaning will achieve liberation. It is the most beautiful meditation, and it only takes 15-20 minutes a day, anytime. Sign the pledge

Do a Sahej Path of Siri Guru Granth Sahib ji
I will commit to do a Sahej Path of Siri Guru Granth Sahib ji.
A Sahaj Path is a beautiful way to read through the entire Siri Guru Granth Sahib at your pace. You begin with Japji Sahib and then every day read as many (or as few) pages of Siri Guru Granth ji as you choose. You finish whenever you finish. It will change your life, clear your karmas, bring light and prosperity to you and your family. If you do not have Siri Guru Granth Sahib ji in your home, read on-line. - Sign the pledge

Do Waheguru simran for 40 days
I will commit to do Waheguru simran aloud for 11 minutes or more every day for at least 40 days
Simran is remembrance of the Infinite and of our own True Identity - that we are each a part of God, that God has made us, God nurtures us at each moment and unto God we all must go. Reciting the Guru mantra, "Waheguru" shifts us out of our thoughts of "I, me and mine" into our Infinite awareness of "Thy, Thee and Thine.". Sign the pledge - Audio mp3 files that you can download & use to chant "Waheguru" with.

Learn to sing a new Shabad
I will commit to learn to sing or play a new Shabad from Siri Guru Granth Sahib ji.
The Shabads of the Guru are done in Raag and music because music takes us straight to the heart. Singing opens our senses, opens our souls, and allows our spirits to fly. Decide that during this 300th Anniversary you will learn to sing a new Shabad that you have never sung before. Sign the pledge

Recite the Mool Mantra for 40 days
I will commit to repeating the Mool Mantra aloud  for 11 minutes or more every day for at least 40 days
Just as the Japji Sahib contains the essence of the entire Siri Guru Granth Sahib, so the Mool Mantra contains the essence of the Japji Sahib. The Mool Mantra is one of two mantras given to us by our Tenth Master - the Guru mantra (Waheguru!) and the Mool Mantra.Through reciting the Mool Mantra, the soul is fed. Sign the Pledge -  Audio mp3 files that you can download & use to chant "Waheguru" with.

Do Sodarshan Chakra Kriya Meditation for 40 days
I will commit to do Sodarshan Chakra Kriya for 5-31 minutes a day for at least 40 days
This meditation is recorded in Ang 1106 of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. It takes away all feelings of separation from God and brings a profound sense of peace and security. Sign the Pledge - Read more about this meditation and how to do it.

We invite you to participate, along with us here at SikhNet, in taking one of these pledges – or perhaps to create another personal commitment of your own. As we commemorate our gifts from Guru Gobind Singh, and the significance of his last instructions to his Sikhs, let us remember that the presence of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib in our lives was purchased through the sacrifices of many generations. Let us honor those sacrifices by each making a personal commitment to more deeply understand and experience the power of the Shabad Guru in our own lives.
