'The Rise of Khalsa' is a 43 minute long documentary film which depicts how the Khalsa Panth was established in 1699 at Anandpur Sahib by the Tenth Guru of the Sikhs - Guru Gobind Singh. It shows the valliant struggle of sikhs to fight against Mughals. Khalsa lives to show the way of purity and simplicity and to fight against cruelty and injustice.
The film also focuses on detailing the great martial art called Gatka as performed by the Khalsa Sports Academy at Jalandhar. The great festival of Hola Mohalla and how the Nihang Sikhs celeberate this festival of colour is also shown beautifully in this film.
This film is directed by Jagmeet Samundari and produced by Baljeet Mannku. It will be screened at the New York International Film Festival in Los Angeles on 22 July at 6 pm, a must watch for every Sikh who is able to attend.
