A children’s hospice has called on the borough’s Sikh community to make use of its services.
10 March 2016: Haven House Children’s Hospice, High Road, Woodford Green, led a talk at restaurant Masala 910, Eastern Avenue, Newbury Park, as part of the Sikh Women’s Alliance’s (SWA) International Women’s Day celebrations.
The hospice, which attended to engage with the community, said its users did not reflect the 17,000 Sikhs in Redbridge.
Haven House chief executive Mike Palfreman said: “For parents looking after a seriously ill child, the support provided by a hospice can make an immeasurable difference.
“Many of our children and families live in the London Borough of Redbridge, which is also home to one of the largest Sikh populations in the capital. The size of this population is not reflected in the number of Sikh families who use Haven House.”
SWA chairwoman Balvinder Kaur Saund said: “We’re happy to engage with Haven House and learn about its facilities. We hope to work in partnership in future on projects.”
